I think for the longest time I have felt like I was so far behind the masses in the craft world and I think I’m going to finally hang up those words “I’m not that crafty”. With a few tutorials and ideas on pinterest, I think I’ve been inspired to be a crafter. I’m still unsure what my sole talent is in this wide world of crafting, but I’m having fun trying new things.
My IRL bestie who you all have read about before that is pregnant with me had her baby shower on Sunday which I got to help host! I was eager to sign up for decorations to try to blow her socks off since she has always gone above and beyond for me. Here are the decorations I actually made!!
First up were my diaper cup cakes. Cute lil’ socks, wrapped in a newborn diaper and a washcloth, topped with a sassy ribbon to finish it off! I added her name on the edge of the basket for a lil’ extra touch!
I wish I could take credit for this wreath completely, but Kristi actually made one for me for my baby shower a few weeks ago with Rayne’s name dangling down. The idea is to take the wreath to the hospital to use on our doors when our lil’ girls make their debut. Kristi was kind of enough to let me dig through her fabric scraps to get the perfect pieces to make her wreath. I painted the monogram letters green and got her name spelled out on each letter! I always have to give the hubs props too because he helped me figure out how to fix the letters to the wreath without being able to see how!
I would give my right arm to be able to tell you that I came up with this topsy turvey diaper cake all by myself, but I found a tutorial and purchased the directions HERE! I also got the wash cloth candy pops tutorial from there as well as the stick lolipops shown below too! I got a few other tutorials but some of them were a tad more advanced for me, but I loved how it all turned out!
Okay, now these are my fun wooden blocks that I love to make! I tried to incorporate colors that tied the cake and wreath together. Her room is actually a pink and white damask and I figured some other fun colors would make the room POP!! I made each block to spell out her name and left the backs of the blocks BLANK. When we had the baby shower, I had guests sign a precut scrapbook paper with a ‘well wish’ to Baby Emery so that I could modge podge it on for her to hold on to the memory of her baby shower for many years to come!!
Everything all together (minus the wreath). I also had some glass vases that I filled with Kristi’s major craving (snickers) and used them to show the lolipop wash cloth candies too!
My gift to Kristi and baby Emery was a vinyl decal for her to put above her crib in her nursery! I got it from this etsy site HERE! I cannot say enough nice things about that Etsy site!! Super fast, super friendly and amazing product!!
Much Love to my dear friend and her newest sweet baby Emery!! I can’t wait to meet you and had a blast making a shower so much fun!! We hosted at a nail salon!!! How awesome is that!? That’s right, you come… get your nails and toes done in total relaxation while the guest of honor gets to open beautiful gifts and have some yummy snacks and cake!! A blast I tell ya!!
I got the honor of hosting with one of Kristi’s friends Jenny, who was such a blast to work with!! She made some delicious snacks and the cutest lil’ popcorn favors!!! Here’s how the table turned out!
