There is a questionnaire buzzing around the blog world that I thought I’d take part in while I am still trying to get my footing on the New Year. Nicole shared this list of questions from the LDA press that looked fun! I encourage you to write yours too!
What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before? Kickboxing & Texas Fit Chicks boot camp ~ both of which I failed at but now I know.
Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t think I really made any last year (2012) and I hesitate to make any for 2013 mainly out of fear of not accomplishing them.
Did anyone close to you give birth? I sure hope I’m not forgetting someone but No.
Did anyone close to you die? Yes, my Grandfather “Popop”
What countries did you visit? None, unless you count the time I skyped with my Dad and Step Mom while they were in Bodrum, Turkey and getting a virtual tour over their balcony so that I could hear the ‘Call to Prayer’ which I LOVE listening to from there.
What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012? a more “zen” mentality or to not let things bother me as much as I let them in other words.
What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory? Sadly, the date my grandfather died, May 23rd.
What was your biggest achievement of the year? Starting a new blog with DateGirl & Cherished Bliss where we tried our hand at finding companies to review products for and share them. I think my temporary dream to live in the marketing world was met although the blog fizzled quickly with life changes and schedules.
What was your biggest failure? Not getting organized with all of the kids art work, baby books and staying up to date on the milestones.
Did you suffer illness or injury? I had my share of colds but nothing that would constitute suffering any more than the normal weather induced sicknesses.
What was the best thing you bought? as silly as it sounds—a magnetic monthly calendar that we now keep on our refrigerator so that we know exactly what is going on with our life.
Whose behavior merited celebration? Bill O’Reilly… I honestly have no idea.
Where did most of your money go? to Paypal or the donut store
What did you get really, really, really excited about? getting the first YES! to my request sent to a company asking if they would want to partner with me & the RCL blog for free product with a review in return. Oh, or being selected to review a product with the Blue Print Social.
What song will always remind you of 2012? Sadly, Gangnam Style only because its so over played and Adele’s Rolling in the Deep that was also a good song but very over played.
Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder? Happier
Thinner or fatter? Fatter
Richer or poorer? Neither
What do you wish you’d done more of? More date nights out with Erik. taking more pictures with my camera and gone on more adventures with the kids as a family.
What do you wish you’d done less of? Gaining weight
How did you spend your Christmas? with family, you can read about it HERE
Did you fall in love in 2012? sure, everyday I see my kids faces and hearing them say Mommy or I love you makes me fall in love over and over again.
Who were your best friends? IRL: Courtney & Kristi, BLOG: Jessica, DateGirl, EmmyMom,Sarah Kate, Ashley, Amber who no longer blogs and honestly my list goes on from there with plenty of amazing women but those are my top ones.
What thing did you do that was meaningful to others? I am stumped on this one. I think I always strive to be there for my family and friends when they need me. I did send a few blog friends some unexpected mail that I hope surprised them and made their day.
What was your favorite TV program? Mike & Molly, Whitney & later in the year, Nashville.
Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Hate is a harsh word. I don’t think I really HATE anyone. I am disappointed and hurt by some people but hate is too much.
What was the best book you read? Me? Read? I didn’t read a book. Not 1. Shame on me, yes, I know… but I don’t have time and the time I do have, I’d rather be doing something else.
What was your greatest musical discovery? that my daughter Rayne loves to jam to music by bobbing her head back and forth and will also squat quickly up and down when she' hears a good song. Reese is singing a lot. My favorite song that she sings is “Bringing home my baby bumblebee”. Aside from that, I found a neat gift I gave my Dad for Christmas that can make guitar picks out of anything you can stick in the clamp. Clever eh? Not sure how many picks a person might need in their life-time but still a new discovery.
What did you want and get? a blog make-over!
What did you want and not get? to sell our land.
What was your favorite film of this year? I honestly can only go on the movies I saw which was very few. I loved Batman:Dark Knight Rises, Hunger Games, Breaking Dawn2, This is 40.
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 34 in January 12’ and I can’t remember anything! My memory is failing!
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? selling our land or getting closure with my Grandfather’s wishes.
What kept you sane? Chocolate, coffee, friends and family.
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I will always love Reese Witherspoon.
What political issue stirred you the most? The election, the economy, taxes, the fiscal cliff & the lack of information and honesty about the Benghazi cover-up which still baffles me why we still have no resolution or admission… or justice for that matter.
Who did you miss? My blog friends who have moved on or blog less and George W. Bush. hah!
Who was the best new person you met this year? Jessica from Forever & A Day
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012: There are ‘snakes in the grass’ and until 2012, I never truly believed it. In the third chapter of Genesis, a serpent (a guise for Satan) befriends and then deceives Eve. The reason that Eve did not suspect the snake of treachery was that "the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field" (Gen. 3:1).
Quote that sums up your year: Just relax… is the words I heard more than any other and I actually said a LOT!
Ps. Last thought as it relates to New Years and the theory of eating black eye peas will bring you good luck. I have come to the conclusion that it’s a bunch of baloney. I think some parent used that logic to try to get their kid to eat it and it was a statement that was mass shared and many years later, we are all believing it. I have yet to find anyone thanking the black eyed pea for their year of fortune. Just sayin’. I ate one so next year I’ll let you know if it helped.Pin It
