As September begins, so do all of the weekend birthday parties full of cake, cupcakes and ice cream. I am certainly not complaining about the caloric intake but my body sure does take a beating. As a working Mom, I honestly have NO time during the week to fit in a work out. My main goal has always been to survive the day’s responsibilities and get my 8-9 hours a night of beauty sleep. I really need to get focused and figured I would do a little research to find ideas for work outs that can fit my hectic schedule.
1. Title Boxing: This sounds like a total beating and if you have a Title Boxing Club somewhere near you, this is worth a try. I know so many Mom’s who have found this to be fun even though you are drenched in sweat and probably mumbling curse words to make it through the class. This is on my bucket list to try as long as there is no face to face contact which I’ve been assured it is not.
2. Texas Fit Chicks: This is actually something I have tried and might be willing to give another shot. The good thing about this option is they have classes in the wee early morning hours or evening hours when the kids have gone to bed. I just have to find a way to give up some of my sleep. Texas Fit Chicks are a group of Mom’s mostly that do boot camp type work outs in parking lots. If you don’t have this in your area, you can probably find something similar.
3. Hot Yoga at Fitness First: I have always wanted to try Hot Yoga. I have taken regular yoga classes and really enjoyed the stretching and flexibility you gain from it! I have friends who have been and I always joke that I’m surprised they made it out alive. I did hear something recently that I thought was a good piece of information. I always thought that the more you are sweating meant you are losing weight. This isn’t true! This was hard to hear because I like to mow the yard and when I sweat, I am assuming its because I’m losing weight but really your body is just trying to cool itself down. You are actually dehydrating your body by sweating so much and that’s why they say DRINK WATER!
4. Couch to 5K: I have seen other bloggers talking about this program and there is also an app you can get on your cell phone to help you. My neighbors were starting it together as a couple except the Mom would go in the wee mornings and Dad would go at night. This one has a lot of great reviews and so many have said it works. I guess its just a matter of dedication and pushing yourself to try it. I think for this one, I would need a friend to go with me. I am really good at talking myself out of walking or running that extra little bit.
Don’t you think these look fun!! Erik and I have done really well when we can do a program together. Its much easier when you can work out and eat right together. We have tried dieting or starting work out plans at separate times and the other always caves and fails. So which of these have you tried?
